We’re Powered By Community

As your electric cooperative, our core mission is to keep the lights on; but our passion is our community. Because we live and work here too, and we want to make it a better place for all.

If there’s anything we can do to help you––whether providing energy-saving advice to help lower your monthly bill or discuss payment plan options during these difficult times––please reach out to us.

Concern for community is the heart and soul of who we are. And no matter what the future brings, you can count on your electric co-op to care about you.

We hope you’ll take advantage of SmartHub, an app that empowers you to monitor, manage and pay your energy bill conveniently online or from your mobile device.

Another service we offer is PowerUp Prepay, which is intended to help budget your monthly energy costs. UEC members can pay for electricity before it’s used, then use the electricity until the credit expires. During the time period paid for, you’ll receive regular feedback on your balance. Email notifications are automatically generated through SmartHub when a PowerUp Prepay account balance is below $25.

UEC also offers a wide range of energy efficiency programs. From residential appliances and weatherization to large scale custom commercial lighting and irrigation we want to help our members save energy, and ultimately save money on their electric bill.

In addition to helping members save today, we’re focusing on the future. The Scientific Irrigation Scheduling program assists irrigators in saving billions of gallons of water and saving about 10 million kilowatt-hours each year. That is the same energy needed to supply 725 all-electric homes for one year.

In our area, we’re seeing increased interest in renewable energy sources. In 2021, members connected about a dozen new residential solar arrays to our power grid, for a total of 35 connected arrays since UEC’s net metering program began in 2010.

But the most important investment we make is in our local youth. UEC’s staff have logged hundreds of volunteer hours supporting schools, youth clubs and other programs. UEC also offers 14 scholarships to deserving area students totalling $50,000 each year in hopes of helping awardees achieve their career goals.

Each summer, through our Youth Programs, UEC sends two high school juniors to Washington, D.C. for a week-long immersion to experience democracy in action, and several other high school age students are given an all-expenses paid trip to the Idaho Youth Rally in Idaho, where they develop their leadership skills and earn additional scholarships.

At the heart of all of these programs is you––the members we proudly serve. Looking ahead, we’re grateful for so many wonderful community partners and for the positive impact we can continue to make.

This holiday season, we wish you and your loved ones peace, joy and prosperity. Your team at Umatilla Electric Cooperative knows the future will be be bright because of you.
