Win a Trip of a Lifetime!

2023 Washington, D.C. Youth Tour with National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)

Youth Tour delegates will represent Oregon and the Northwest, join more than 1,500 other students from across the United States for the once-in-a-lifetime trip. During the course of the visit and trip, students will visit famous historical sites, meet with Oregon’s congressional leaders, and learn valuable leadership skills. The students will also create podcasts and digital photo projects as they learn about electric cooperatives and current issues in energy and climate change legislation that face their communities and the United States.

Entry Guidelines & Applications

The tour is open to qualified high school juniors attending school in Umatilla, Morrow, or Union Counties, whose parent or guardian is a current member of Umatilla Electric Cooperative (UEC). UEC will pay all of the expenses involved with the trip except for spending money that the finalist may want to take.

*Subject to change. If event is canceled or restricted, UEC will provide a scholarship in lieu of the trip. Applicants need to include a photo of themselves with their completed application for use in Ruralite magazine should they be the winning entrant.

The selected students will represent Umatilla Electric Cooperative and will join other Oregon delegates for a trip to Washington, D.C. The NRECA Youth Tour will be held from June 17 – 23, 2023. The selected students agree that if selected, he/she will participate in activities that help promote the youth tour. You may also be asked to report on the overall experience of the trip.

If you do a video, it should be about 60-90 seconds long. It will be judged on content rather than production values. Should you choose to do an essay, it should be between 300-400 words.
