Understanding Your Electric Bill

Understanding your bill is easy. We'll show you some key pieces of information that may be helpful as you review your monthly statement.

  1. Billing Summary - This section shows your total amount due, previous balance, and payments.
  2. Important Account Information - This box will note any past due amount, which is due immediately, or any other account specific information.
  3. Meter and Readings - This row represents your meter number, number of days in the billing cycle, meter readings, and rate schedule.
  4. Current Charges - This section details current charges, including the basic charge, energy usage and taxes.
  5. Usage Chart - For most account types, this table shows electric usage by month in terms of kilowatt-hours used. This graph shows your consumption over the past 13 months as well as the effect weather has on your electric bill.
  6. Remittance Stub - The bottom of the statement is a tear-off remittance stub to be returned with your payment. You can also pay by phone, via SmartHub, by mail, at our office kiosks or at MoneyGram locations.
  7. UCARE - Donations provide financial assistance to member who have trouble paying their electricity bills. Contributions are matched by UEC. For more about this program, visit our UCARE page.
