UEC Hires Manager of Power Supply and Transmission Services

An experienced power supply professional has joined Umatilla Electric Cooperative as Manager of Power Supply and Transmission Services.

Blake Weathers joined UEC after nearly a decade of managing complex power supply and transmission issues for an array of public power utilities while working at the Public Power Council and Northwest Requirements Utilities.

Weathers is known among public power as a subject matter expert on federal and non-federal power supply matters as well as regional transmission issues. He has extensive experience working on regional markets and policy matters and has close working relationships with industry stakeholders.

Prior to his time serving public power, Weathers spent over a decade working at Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) in transmission services functions that culminated in an account executive role focusing on transmission access and interconnection issues.

At UEC, Weathers will manage the cooperative’s power supply contracts and transmission service arrangements, including those with BPA.

Weathers has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Indiana University and a master’s degree in International Public Policy from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Weathers began his new role at UEC on Oct. 31.

“We are very excited to have Blake join the team here at UEC, and we are looking forward to the contributions he will make to meeting our members’ needs” said Robert Cromwell, Vice President of Power Supply at Umatilla Electric.
