Wire-pulling Operation Begins Friday Near Boardman

Traffic on Interstate 84 at Boardman will be impacted on Friday, Jan. 28 and next week as Umatilla Electric Cooperative conducts a wire-pulling operation across the freeway.

Workers on Friday will pull ropes over the freeway, at a point about halfway between the Port of Morrow and Irrigon interchanges, in preparation for wire-pulling next week. Work will begin at about 8 a.m. and last all day, wind and weather permitting. Friday’s work will require rolling slowdowns along I-84 as it takes place.

Wire-pulling operations are scheduled for Monday through Friday, Jan. 31 through Feb. 4. The work will necessitate left-lane closures for both eastbound and westbound traffic, and a traffic slowdown to 55 mph.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we upgrade the cooperative’s electric infrastructure. Please watch our Facebook page and company website for any potential changes in the schedule.
