At Umatilla Electric Cooperative, we are committed to delivering safe, reliable power while maintaining a strong financial foundation. Each year, our team conducts a thorough review and analysis of the cooperative’s financials to ensure we are operating efficiently and in the best interest of our members.

Like many businesses across the nation, Umatilla Electric Cooperative (UEC) is experiencing rising costs across all departments. You’ve likely felt the impact in your own household, too.

At UEC, increases in material prices, including those affected by recent tariffs, are placing added pressure on our operational budgets. From transformers and conductor to fuel and equipment, the cost of doing business continues to climb. Despite these challenges, UEC remains focused on minimizing the impact to our members. We are closely evaluating operations and identifying ways to offset rising expenses without compromising the quality of service our members expect and deserve.

In the coming months, UEC will share more information about how these increased costs may affect members rates. To ensure fairness and financial responsibility, we review each year’s financial data to confirm every member rate class is paying its fair share of the costs required to deliver power. This keeps rates equitable and preserves the cooperative’s long-term financial health.

As always, our goal is to keep members informed and prepared as we navigate this changing financial landscape together. For more details on financial impacts, please read this month's Ruralite Column where President/CEO, Robert Echenrode, details recent power purchasing changes from Bonneville Power Administration and other industry-wide cost drivers.
