Umatilla Electric Cooperative is happy to announce Kalie Davis has joined the cooperative’s team as Manager of Employee Engagement. Davis, a local to Echo, Ore. has worked in eastern Oregon across industries, including economic development and workforce development.

Most recently, Davis has been employed with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as External Engagement Manager – West Coast. In this position, she has been responsible for external affairs for the organization in supporting economic development initiatives, community engagement, and supporting infrastructure development for the company across the west. Specific to eastern Oregon, Kalie has led many projects, notably responsible for establishing a brick-and-mortar office for AWS employees, now operating in Hermiston.

Before her time at AWS, Davis spent nearly 10 years at the Port of Morrow in Boardman, Ore., where her first role was as the SAGE Center Manager, preparing the facility for it’s opening in 2012. She managed continued operations through 2017, then led the Port’s Workforce Development department. As Director of Workforce Development, Kalie supported initiatives across Morrow County to improve connectivity of current and future workforce to the existing employers within the Port’s industrial parks. Program initiatives included the creation of the Morrow County High School Internship Program, Columbia Works summer internship program, workforce-focused camps for kids, and working to connect job seekers with the over 8,000 jobs amongst employers within the industrial parks of the Port of Morrow.

In addition to her experience in the region, Davis also holds both a masters and bachelors degree in business administration from Eastern Oregon University.

“We are extremely thrilled to bring Kalie’s talents to the Umatilla Electric team,” says Lisa McMeen, vice president of administration. “Her network in the area, understanding of our region, and care for others will prove to make her a valuable member of our team.”

In this newly titled role, Davis will lead efforts in employee engagement, employee training, culture development, and succession planning – key components in supporting the cooperative’s continued growth and commitment to its employees.
