Umatilla Electric Cooperative is nearing the finish line on the renovation and expansion of its Hermiston headquarters.
Assistant General Manager Josh Lankford recently shared an update from the construction site, where the project is on schedule and on budget.
With the cooperative’s growing workforce - currently at nearly 130 employees and expected to exceed 200 in coming years - the added space will help better serve members and support operational needs. Improvements include a relocated main entrance and redesigned drive-through to improve traffic flow and member convenience.
“We believe these changes will improve your experience while working with our team,” Lankford said.
Kevin Kiniry, project superintendent with Chervenell Construction, said the interior of the building is seeing significant progress, with painting completed and most flooring installed. Cabinetry and tile work are also wrapping up, and on the exterior, stucco is finished with sidewalks and parking lot upgrades underway.
Construction activity will continue throughout the summer, and UEC anticipates transitioning staff back into the building in the coming months.
Members will be welcomed back to the renovated office by early fall, once the UEC team has fully transitioned into the space. Until then, UEC encourages members to drive cautiously around active construction areas and the temporary modular office.
