If you’re considering installing a rooftop solar array, Umatilla Electric Cooperative (UEC) is here to help you make the best choice for your home and energy needs. While solar can be a great option for some members, it’s important to understand the key factors that go into making this investment.
UEC encourages members to:
- Get multiple quotes from contractors to compare prices, products, and warranties.
- Understand your electric bill won’t disappear—even with solar, you’ll still rely on UEC services to produce power, especially during evenings or non-sunny days.
- Be prepared for outages— having solar panels does not keep your power on during outages.
- Assess your roof’s age and condition—installing solar on an older roof could lead to costly repairs later.
To help members navigate this decision, UEC's Energy Efficiency team has 2 presentations planned for members to learn more about:
- Our team will be guests on the Boardman Chamber of Commerce’s “Chamber Talk with Torrie” Podcast on Facebook Live. on Thursday, February 13.
- Where? Tune in to the Boardman Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page where you can learn more and ask questions in real-time about rooftop solar and renewable energy options
- When? The live-streamed conversation starts at Noon
- UEC will host its second Rooftop Solar Information Meeting. At the event, a brief presentation will be shown with things to consider before deciding to purchase solar. After the presentation, UEC staff will be available for 1:1 questions with members.
