Umatilla Electric Cooperative (UEC) is proud to announce the promotions of Chad Campfield and Ryan Young to key leadership positions within the engineering department, effective July 15, 2025. These advancements reflect UEC’s strong commitment to internal development and investing in the growth of its workforce.

Chad Campfield has been named manager of engineering, transmission, where he will lead engineers, project managers and land use staff. Chad will oversee UEC’s capital project planning and execution, ensuring strategic alignment with cooperative goals and regulatory compliance. Since joining UEC in 2019, Chad has held multiple engineering roles, most recently serving as superintendent of engineering.
In that role, he led UEC’s land use team and managed large capital projects with precision - delivering results on time and under budget. Known for his technical expertise and collaborative approach, Chad has played a key role in UEC’s long-term infrastructure expansion and permitting efficiency.

Ryan Young has been promoted to manager of engineering, distribution. In his new position, Ryan will oversee teams responsible for distribution engineering, metering, design, and network administration. He will lead efforts around annual budgeting, capital project development and support of regulatory compliance.
Since joining UEC in 2019, Ryan has demonstrated thoughtful leadership and technical depth. As superintendent of engineering, he led the cooperative’s recloser replacement project to enhance outage response, and helped transition the entire system to advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). His work in substation design and system protection has been instrumental in modernizing UEC’s distribution network.
Both leaders have risen through the cooperative’s ranks - a reflection of UEC’s emphasis on promoting from within.
“At UEC, we believe in building future leaders from within our organization,” says Cole Bode, vice president of engineering. “Chad and Ryan exemplify the kind of skill, dedication and leadership we value, and we are confident in the direction they will continue to steer our engineering team.”
With Chad and Ryan in these key roles, UEC is well-positioned to continue delivering dependable service and forward-thinking solutions for its members.
