The new year is the perfect time to set goals, refresh routines, and look for ways to save. At Umatilla Electric Cooperative (UEC), we’re here to help our members start the year strong with energy-efficient upgrades that can lower monthly bills, improve comfort, and add long-term value to their homes. Our residential rebate programs make it easier, and more affordable, to turn New Year’s resolutions into real savings.
Clothes Washer and Dryer Rebate
If a new washer or dryer is on your to-do list this year, UEC offers a $100 rebate for qualifying Energy Star®, rated clothes washers and dryers. These high-efficiency appliances use less energy and water, helping members save with every load.
To qualify, the appliances must be Energy Star certified and installed in a home where the primary heating source and hot water heater are electric. The washer must be paired with an electric clothes dryer. Members must submit a dated invoice or receipt within four months of purchase, along with their name, service address, and UEC account number. Applications may be completed online or by submitting the Rapid Rebate Application by mail or in-person. Approved rebates are typically issued within 8 to 10 weeks.

Heat Pump Installation
Make comfort a priority this year by upgrading to a qualifying energy-efficient heat pump. Heat pumps provide efficient heating and cooling while using less energy than traditional systems, helping members stay comfortable through every season.
To qualify for a rebate, the heat pump must be installed by a contractor listed on UEC’s participating installer list. UEC encourages members to detain multiple bids. For those looking to spread out costs, our Energy Saver Loan Program offers low-interest, on-bill financing. Rebate applications must be submitted within four months of project completion, and approved rebates are issued within 8 to 10 weeks.
Heat Pump Water Heater
Looking to lower hot water costs in the new year? UEC offers rebates for high-efficiency heat pump water heaters, also known as hybrid water heaters. These systems can reduce hot water energy use by 25 to 50 percent, making them a smart upgrade with long-term savings.
Heat pump water heaters may be installed by a participating contractor or by the homeowner. We encourage members to contact UEC before starting the project to confirm eligibility. After installation, members must submit the Heat Pump Water Heater Rebate Application along with supporting documents and final invoices. Approved rebates are typically processed within 10 weeks.
Weatherization Program Rebates
The new year is a great time to seal up drafts and improve home comfort. Through UEC’s Weatherization Program, members may qualify for rebates on upgrades such as insulation, windows, and doors.
These improvements help keep warm air inside during the winter and cool air inside during the summer, reducing energy use year-round. Projects may be completed by a participating installer or by the homeowner. Members must contact UEC before beginning any work to verify rebate eligibility. Approved rebates are generally issued within 8 to 10 weeks, and program availability may change without prior notice.
NEEM Home Rebate Program
For members starting fresh in a new home, UEC offers a $1,000 cash incentive for purchasing a NEEM-certified manufactured home. These homes are built to higher energy-efficiency standards and inspected by state energy offices across the Northwest.
NEEM-certified homes feature enhanced insulation, energy efficient windows and doors, advanced ventilation systems, improved ductwork, and reduced air leakage. Choosing a NEEM home is a great way to begin the year in a comfortable, efficient living space.
Smart Thermostat Rebate
Sometimes small changes make a big difference. UEC offers a $100 rebate for members who install a qualifying programmable thermostat. This simple upgrade helps manage energy use more efficiently while keeping your home comfortable.
To qualify, the thermostat must be listed on the BPA Qualified Products list and installed in a home where the primary heat source is electric. Members must submit a dated receipt from the last four months, along with a completed Rapid Rebate Application.
Where do I start?
Schedule a free home energy assessment
Starting the new year with energy efficiency doesn’t have to be overwhelming and you don’t have to figure it out on your own. UEC offers free home energy assessments to help members understand how their homes use energy and where improvements may have the biggest impact.
During an assessment, a UEC energy efficiency representative will review your home’s energy consumption and provide personalized recommendations to help you save energy and money. These suggestions are tailored to your home and lifestyle, and there is no obligation to participate in any other UEC programs or incentives.
Whether you’re planning a major upgrade, considering one of our rebate programs, or simply looking for easy ways to reduce your energy use in the new year, a home energy assessment is a great first step. It’s an easy, no-cost way to set energy-saving goals and start the year with confidence, knowing where your energy dollars are going and how to make them work harder for you.
