This summer, Umatilla Electric Cooperative welcomed several interns across various departments to gain firsthand experience in the electric utility industry while developing professional skills and exploring career opportunities.

One of those interns was Abrianna Lomeli, an incoming Oregon State University student who plans to double major in International Business and Marketing. As a Public Relations Intern, Abrianna supported a variety of communications and outreach efforts while gaining valuable experience in the public relations and marketing field.

Throughout her internship, Abrianna contributed to projects that supported community and youth engagement programs, assisted with communications materials, and helped advance departmental initiatives. These experiences provided her with opportunities to strengthen her professional skills while learning more about the role communications plays within a member-owned cooperative.

During her time at UEC, Abrianna gained a greater appreciation for the collaboration and communication required to support cooperative operations and serve members effectively.

“My internship at UEC has been an incredible experience that has given me valuable hands-on experience in public relations and marketing while working alongside an amazing team,” Abrianna said. “I'm excited to carry the skills and knowledge I've gained into my future career!”

UEC’s internship program provides students with opportunities to apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting while gaining exposure to careers within the cooperative and utility industries. Through meaningful projects and mentorship, interns develop skills that help prepare them for future success.

We thank Abrianna for her contributions this summer and wish her all the best as she continues her education and pursues her career goals.
