Celebrating National Agriculture Day at Umatilla Electric

Local Producers Gear Up for New Irrigation Season with UEC

In celebration of National Agriculture Day earlier this week, local irrigators gathered on Mar. 21 at the Blue Mtn. Community College Precision Irrigated Agriculture Facility, located at the OSU Experiment Station in Hermiston. At the meeting, UEC irrigation members heard updates from staff and leadership on recent activities at the co-op.

Presenters in the meeting discussed everything from energy efficiency projects to infrastructure upgrades, outage mitigation and a finance update. The group also got to hear from UEC’s Government Relations Manager, Alec Shebiel, on updates from the Oregon Legislature's 2024 Short Session. Josh Lankford, vice president of engineering and operations, provided an update on the headquarters expansion project, as well.

“We look forward to gathering our irrigation members each year and learning ways to better serve them," says Tami Sinor, key account representative for UEC. “Our service to our irrigation community has improved tremendously over the years as our system has seen improvements. It is rewarding to hear our members recognize that and learn more about new projects they're planning for this year's irrigation season."

Members in attendance engaged in dialogue with the UEC Executive Team, getting many questions answered about the cooperative's endeavors.

Irrigation members are invited to meet bi-annually outside of irrigation season.
