The Commercial Sector is generally defined as non-manufacturing business establishments, including hotels, motels, restaurants, wholesale businesses, retail stores, and health, social, and educational institutions.
Umatilla Electric Cooperative (UEC) offers energy efficiency and conservation programs to assist our members in achieving cost-effective energy savings. Our program offers incentives for verified energy savings to commercial customers looking to make efficiency improvements or upgrades to their facilities. There are a variety of program options for commercial customers of all sizes and budget levels; retrofit and new construction.
The following is a list of measures that are eligible for commercial sector incentives:
- Lighting – LED retrofit or new construction
- Refrigerators and freezers
- Hot water systems
- HVAC systems
- Refrigeration compressors, evaporators, and condensers
- Renewable energy systems or other measures

Some projects are more complex and require additional steps to determine energy savings and eligibility. These Custom Projects may require engineering review and energy consumption monitoring for verification of savings. UEC will review any proposed energy efficiency project for verifiable energy savings potential and will work with the owners to evaluate and verify energy savings.
- Pre-approval for custom projects is required prior to ordering or purchasing qualifying equipment or services.
Rebates for qualifying new construction and retrofit projects are calculated on a per kWh basis of the verified energy savings of the installed measures. UEC projects are capped at 50% of the eligible project cost for qualifying measures.
