Make Your Voice Heard on Cap and Trade

February 19, 2019

From the Office of Rep. Greg Smith

In the coming weeks the Joint Committee on Carbon Reduction will be holding four community hearings across Oregon to hear constituent testimony on the proposed cap and trade legislation (HB 2020).

Recent studies indicate that the cap and trade program under consideration will have a significant impact on our community. Both fuel and natural gas prices are projected to increase, fuel prices are estimated to rise 16 cents per gallon just in the first year and natural gas is estimated to increase by over 50%.

It is critically important that my colleagues hear from you about the personal impacts that passing cap and trade would have on District 57. Details on the hearing located closest to District 57 are below:

The Dalles
Date: Friday, March 1
Location: The Dalles Civic Auditorium – 323 E 4th St., The Dalles, OR 97058
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

If you cannot attend, please consider sharing your comments with the committee via email: jccr.exhibits@oregonlegislature.gov to be entered into the record.
