Heating System Cost Comparison

In an effort to assist our members in comparing the cost of their existing heating system and the benefits of installing a more efficient system, UEC has developed the Heating System Cost Analysis (PDF).

In a typical U.S. household, heating and cooling systems account for about 56% of the energy use, making it the single largest energy expense for most homes. When considering an upgrade or replacement system, there are a wide variety of technologies available in a wide range of energy efficiency. Many heating systems have certain supporting equipment in common with cooling your home, such as thermostats and ducts, which provide opportunities for saving energy. When replacing your heating system or upgrading an existing system, it’s important to consider the limitations imposed by your current system. When selecting a heating system for a new home, your options are generally much wider, although your builder may place limitations on your choices.
