Applications and the required information must be received at Umatilla Electric’s headquarters, located at 750 W. Elm, Hermiston, no later than 6:00 P.M. April 1.
Lineman College Scholarship
Except for the requirements outlined above and a requirement to attend the UEC Annual Meeting during the year of scholarship award, no obligations will be imposed upon the student as a scholarship award winner. Scholarship recipients are not required to work at Umatilla Electric following their training, nor does Umatilla Electric guarantee positions. Other than payment of the scholarship, no obligations or liability are assumed by Umatilla Electric Cooperative.
Awards are based on academic excellence, work experience, and participation in school and community activities.
Interested Applicants must submit a completed application form that includes:
- UEC’s Lineman College scholarship application (PDF).
- An official copy of your high school transcripts or GED.
- Two professional letters of reference.
- Essay describing in 200 words: why you are a good candidate for the lineworkers program, explain why are you interested in this type of work, and what special skills you would bring to the job?
Umatilla Electric’s scholarship program is available for members and/or applicants whose parent or guardian is an active member, in good standing, with Umatilla Electric Cooperative or Hermiston Energy Services. Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment in a Line College program, and be a high school graduate by summer of 2022 or hold a GED.
Umatilla Electric will award one $3,000 scholarship. Upon selection and official enrollment to an accredited Line College program, scholarship checks will be paid directly to the school.
