Umatilla Electric Cooperative (UEC)’s Energy Efficiency Program offers a cash rebate to members who procure a qualifying energy-efficient heat pump. Convert your old heat source to a new and more efficient heat pump. The qualifying unit must be installed by an installer who is listed on our participating installers (PDF) list. To obtain a rebate for your new efficient heat pump, follow the process outlined below:
- Call participating installers (PDF) to obtain multiple bids and notify installers you plan on participating in UEC’s rebate program.
- Share your bids with UEC to verify if your project qualifies for a rebate.
- If you would like to take advantage of our low-interest on-bill financing Energy Saver Loan program, submit a request at this point.
- Contactor will complete the installation.
- Within 4 months of project completion submit a rebate application with supporting documents to UEC
- If your project qualifies for a rebate allow 8 to 10 weeks after receipt of all required documentation for rebate checks to be issued and mailed.
Qualifying Heat Pumps
Air Source Non-Variable Speed Heat Pumps: Air source heat pumps extract heat from the air and pump it either inside or outside to heat or cool your home. They require centralized ductwork to spread the conditioned air throughout the house. To qualify for a rebate, a new heat pump installation must be installed in a home primarily heated with an electric forced air furnace. The new heat pump must be rated as having at least 7.5 Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF2) and must be rated as having at least 14.3 SEER2.
UEC will pay for a new air source non-variable speed heat pump per the following schedule:
- Add an air source non-variable speed heat pump to an electric resistance forced-air furnace: $1,000*
Air Source Variable Speed Heat Pumps: Air source heat pumps extract heat from the air and pump it either inside or outside to heat or cool your home. They require centralized ductwork to spread the conditioned air throughout the house. To qualify for this rebate, a new variable speed heat pump installation must be installed in a home that is primarily heated with one of the following heat sources:
- Heat Pump
- Ductless Heat Pump
- Electric Forced Air Furnace
- Zonal Electric System
- Other Heat Sources (Gas, Oil, Propane, Wood)
The new heat pump must be rated as having at least 7.5 Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF2) and must be rated as having at least 14.3 SEER2.
UEC will pay for a new air source heat pump per the following schedule:
- Add an air source variable speed heat pump system: $1,000*
*Limit 1 air source heat pump rebate per address
Ductless or Mini-Split Heat Pumps: Ductless heat pumps also extract heat from the air and pump it either inside or outside to heat or cool your home. However, unlike air source heat pumps, they do not require ductwork to be installed. Their compact nature allows greater flexibility for installation. To qualify for a rebate, a new ductless heat pump installation must be installed in a home primarily heated with electricity and Single Heads must be rated as having at least 7.5 HSPF2, Multi-Heads must be rated as having at least 7.5 HSPF2.
UEC will pay for a new ductless heat pump per the following schedule:
- UEC will pay $800 for a new ductless heat pump retrofit from Electric Forced Air or Electric Zonal Heating
- *Only 1 DHP rebate per address
Rebates
Umatilla Electric will pay incentives for the purchase of a qualifying heat pump system, depending on the energy efficiency of the unit that you purchase. Existing site-built or manufactured homes are eligible for a UEC heat pump rebate; tenants, as well as homeowners, qualify with the homeowners’ permission. UEC reserves the right to inspect any project installation for compliance with program specifications. UEC is not liable for issues arising from this project installation.
