Household Appliance Usage Chart

In an effort to assist our members in evaluating the energy used and cost associated with housewares and appliances, UEC has developed the Appliance Energy Usage Chart (PDF). This guide includes typical household items such as clocks, sewing machines, hairdryers, fans, furnace, domestic pumps, heating and air conditioning, and appliances.

This guide lists common household items, their average wattage, the national average usage, and the average cost to operate the item for a month or a year. The purpose is to illustrate how your home uses electricity.

It should be emphasized that these are only national averages. Individual households can vary widely depending on the efforts made in each home to save money by conserving electricity.
