Residential Customers Within City Boundaries
UEC will show the full amount of city franchise fees assessed against electricity usage as a separate line item on your bill.
The rates vary among the six cities served by UEC. In the past, franchise fees of 3.5% and lower were absorbed within your bill and did not appear as a line item. The amount of the fee above that percentage appeared as a separate line item. (For example, the City of Hermiston’s 4.5% fee appeared as a 1% fee on a separate line, since the other 3.5% was absorbed within the bill.)
UEC is now showing this as a separate line item on monthly bills.
Here’s the breakdown by city:
- For members within the City of Hermiston: The city’s fees and taxes, for a combined 7%, will appear as a 5% franchise fee and a 2% occupancy tax on two separate lines.
- For members within the City of Boardman: The city’s fee of 3.5% previously did not appear on your bill. It will now appear as a separate line item of 3.5%.
