Why Build A New Substation?

UEC continues to invest in new infrastructure to ensure we have the needed equipment to provide reliable power to all of our members. The Wagon Wheel Substation will aid in the continued economic growth in the Boardman area.

UEC’s Commitment to Our Membership

Substations are critical links in the electric distribution system, containing utility circuit protection, voltage regulation, and equipment that steps down higher voltage to lower voltage. Before reaching homes, businesses or farms, power is routed through our transmission system to a substation, where it is changed to a lower voltage that can be managed, utilized and delivered to members.

Benefits and Value Carefully Considered

As the region continues to grow, UEC is committed to supporting economic growth in the region. The Wagon Wheel Substation will provide necessary power to industrial businesses in the Port of Morrow area of Boardman, further strengthening the economy of eastern Oregon and providing needed jobs to citizens.
