Location: Power City, OR

To support growth in Umatilla, UEC is reconductoring an existing line with 230 kV conductor, south of Umatilla. The added capacity will allow UEC to better serve members in the region with resilient and reliable energy.

Anticipated Construction Schedule

Start Date: April 2024

Completion Date: June 2024

Why Add Capacity?

UEC needs to add capabilities for larger loads to be moved across our service territory for power availability purposes. By reconductoring this existing line, UEC will ensure continued, reliable electric service for UEC industrial members between Hermiston and Umatilla. This project will enable future operational and maintenance flexibility for our crews.

UEC’s Commitment to Our Membership

Power lines are critical links in the electric distribution system. As our communities continue to grow, UEC is committed to investing in the infrastructure to serve our members.

Benefits and Value Carefully Considered

UEC members and community may experience activity along Powerline Rd. with minimal impact to traffic. Traffic control flaggers will be present intermittently in the upcoming weeks along Powerline Rd as crews begin installing new conductor. Most of the structures are existing, allowing new conductor to be strung quickly.

When pulling conductor over Interstate 82, there will be traffic control on site to make it as safe as possible. Speed will be reduced to 55MPH, and the interstate will be narrowed to one lane each way as a precautionary measure.

UEC will continue to address the area’s growing energy needs to ensure we can continue to provide reliable power for years to come.
