To support growth in the region, UEC has built the Ordnance Switchyard west of Hermiston near Westland Road. This new substation will eventually connect UEC’s Umatilla and Morrow County systems through the Umatilla Morrow County Connect Project.

Why Build a New Switchyard?
UEC needed to invest in new infrastructure to meet the increased need of the rapidly growing region. The Ordnance Switchyard ensures continued, reliable electric service for UEC industrial members between Umatilla and Morrow counties. This project has enabled future operational and maintenance flexibility for our crews.
